(3) Patterns driven by free-energy gradients. Self-organized nonequilibrium patterns. Reaction-diffusion systems. Signalling patterns. Turing instabilities. Ecological patterns. 
(4) Hydrodynamics of active materials. Pattern formation in active matter. Mechanochemical and geometrodynamic patterns in cell & developmental biology. Open problems.
