Course Description: Basic ideas of anyons, Majoranas, fusion, braiding, topological quantum computation, toric code, quantum Hall and Chern-simons theories, edge states, bosonisation ( if time permits), \nu=5/2

Course Evaluation: Project (list of topics will be given) with report and 1/2 hour presentation

Prerequisites:

  • Quantum and statistical mechanics
  • Basic ideas of quantum field theory

Course Outcome: 

  • Understanding anyons 
  • Introduction to quantum Hall effect and other topological phases
  • Basic introduction to quantum computing
