Course Syllabus: Local and global inverse theorems in Banach spaces; Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction; Bifurcation theory; fixed point theorems in infinite-dimensional spaces; topological aspects (degree of a map, index of vector field, LS theory); Applications.

Textbook: Primer on nonlinear analysis by Ambrosetti and Prodi; Method of bifurcation theory by Chow and Hale; selected reading from other texts.

Prerequisites: Real analysis and Functional analysis at the graduate level. Interested students should talk to me before signing up.
